Signing a Quilt Block

I have never signed a quilt block before  and have been putting it off for as long as possible.
Sharon the owner of the Chester County Criswell quilt and I decided to exchange  the Priscilla Turner block.

I have had the block appliquéd for some time now but couldn't bring myself to sign it for fear of making a mess of it.  Then I read a comment on the latest post Sharon did on her blog and decided what the heck.
I did iron a piece of freezer paper behind the  space to be signed  before I attempted to write on it.  Now I am not know for my handwriting abilities but I decided to just use my own handwriting instead of printing one on the computer.  Maybe next time I will use the computer.
Now to package and ship to it's new home in Gippsland.

  1. What pen did you use? I need to sign a quilt myself and I am frozen with apprehension.

  2. The block is very nice, Nancy. I finally have settled on some fabrics for the quilt....I think. I did not want to do pink and green. I found some reds and green.

  6. Nancy, it looks superb. It will make my signature look a little ordinary - but wait, it's MY signature, and I'm not an ordinary person! Can't wait to get the block in the letterbox.

  8. You definitely made the right choice of using your own writing, it looks fantastic! Great idea to stabilise it with freezer paper. I too would love to know what pen you used.

  10. It looks great! You picked a good spot to sign and that always helps make it look good. Thanks, too, for the pen test results.

  11. Oh, no, don't use a computer, your handwriting is lovely!!! Another tip I learned for signing a block is to put the block on real fine sandpaper - it holds the fabric in place as you write!! And your block is faboo!!
