My September block for the Shenandoah Valley Quilt . For some reason the picture loaded upside down.<br />

<br />
I have finally started stitching the center block of Phebe. I've had the pattern and fabrics for a couple of years but didn't start because of this center block some of the pieces are so tiny.<br />
This is one of my favorite patterns. I believe it is because of those little sheep.<br />
I want to thank Luann from <a href="http://luannsloosethreads.blogspot.com/">LooseThreads </a>for sending me the fabric for her dress the center of the vase and the bird wings. They really made a difference.<br />
<br />

<br />
<a href="http://sentimentalstitches.net/">Sentimental Stitches</a> has been sending out patterns each month for the 1857 quilt. Here are my blocks so far. The blocks are to finish 10”. Not sure how I will sew them together with those little melons so close to the seam allowance.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stitching ,<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Long time no see. Well, I blame Facebook. So many people have left blogger and moved to Facebook because they say it’s an easier format to use. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think some things about Facebook are easier, like posting photos but to me it doesn’t feel as personal a blog.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I may not have been blogging but I have been busy stitching.</div>

and the blocks put together.<br />
This is my version of Jan Patek’s pattern. <br />

Harriet Powers made the original quilt which is in the Museum of American History .<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Bible Quilt was such a fun quilt to make and I really enjoyed the journey. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wish I could say the same thing about this next quilt.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The 1718 Coverlet from the book by Susan Briscoe has to be one of the most challenging projects I have ever stitched. Partly because it has so many little pieces and partly because I am such a terrible piecer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZwprY34w4uc/V8rXYfp2CnI/AAAAAAAAGuw/mrH_753QjAEYrsM6gsrToz8uP0FWoIEXQCEw/s1600/IMG_1954.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZwprY34w4uc/V8rXYfp2CnI/AAAAAAAAGuw/mrH_753QjAEYrsM6gsrToz8uP0FWoIEXQCEw/s400/IMG_1954.jpg" width="331" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my version. I am so, so happy to be finished with this top.</div>
<span style="text-align: center;"></span><br />
<span style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Maybe if I put it away for a while I will see it with new eyes.</span></span><br />
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mjM-ixvmP6Q/V8rXYqNaQuI/AAAAAAAAGug/u1GJylbSUtIGpspEvJLKIoMIJ0P3FmbIQCLcB/s1600/IMG_1956.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mjM-ixvmP6Q/V8rXYqNaQuI/AAAAAAAAGug/u1GJylbSUtIGpspEvJLKIoMIJ0P3FmbIQCLcB/s320/IMG_1956.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<span style="font-family: , sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
You can read more about the original quilt <a href="http://www.quiltmuseum.org.uk/collections/heritage/1718-coverlet.html">HERE</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jYfowC8EgVs/V8rXYwFEqhI/AAAAAAAAGuk/0-frQ8vpqjAtd6o9Pfkf7UbIymFctgYagCLcB/s1600/IMG_1966.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jYfowC8EgVs/V8rXYwFEqhI/AAAAAAAAGuk/0-frQ8vpqjAtd6o9Pfkf7UbIymFctgYagCLcB/s320/IMG_1966.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
All I have to say about this quilt is What was I Thinking? Or maybe I wasn’t thinking at all when I decided to make the 1718 Coverlet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a9CGVYZx0cM/V8rXatWCLYI/AAAAAAAAGuo/fCk8esn8N3kMpPtjSntg1WNpGWdZTQumACLcB/s1600/IMG_1978.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a9CGVYZx0cM/V8rXatWCLYI/AAAAAAAAGuo/fCk8esn8N3kMpPtjSntg1WNpGWdZTQumACLcB/s400/IMG_1978.jpg" width="392" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Di Ford’s Mystery Quilt”</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one I did enjoy making. It too was challenging but in a different way.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was my first attempt at Broderie Perse and it has lots of English paper piecing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was too late to get in on Homestead Hearth’s BOM so I gathered my own fabrics Some from my stash and some I found on the internet.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xPMXnYSR7rQ/V8rXbMhOkQI/AAAAAAAAGus/qzMxVSM23TsWufmSF-0E1raICeVcbog7wCLcB/s1600/IMG_1985.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xPMXnYSR7rQ/V8rXbMhOkQI/AAAAAAAAGus/qzMxVSM23TsWufmSF-0E1raICeVcbog7wCLcB/s320/IMG_1985.jpg" width="252" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now that I am getting some of my projects completed it must be time to look around for something new.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have you seen the Celebrating Mary Brown Pattern?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O6QGQzxka4E/V8rnCq8Ec4I/AAAAAAAAGvQ/YulqRbvW78kvLUp-zIjxzKgbM3gfobRYQCLcB/s1600/IMG_1990.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="279" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O6QGQzxka4E/V8rnCq8Ec4I/AAAAAAAAGvQ/YulqRbvW78kvLUp-zIjxzKgbM3gfobRYQCLcB/s320/IMG_1990.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was inspired by the Mary B Brown quilt circa 1851.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is by Corliss Searcey and is available in the US at <a href="https://sentimentalstitches.myshopify.com/products/celebrating-mary-brown-quilt-pattern">Sentimental Stitches</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope everyone has been getting a lot of stitching done.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until the next time,</div>

This months block for the Botanical Album quilt is a Bouquet block. I thought I would post on time this month rather than late This quilt is still on the top of my favorites list.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There will be lots of other versions of this block shown <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/">here</a> on the 15th of the month.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">Holy smokes, I haven’t posted in so long I don’t know if I remember how. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Part of the problem was my internet connection. It had become so slow it took forever just to download pictures. We finally got a new provider and things are somewhat better.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q5v8tXYix9Q/VyFBzE1wfFI/AAAAAAAAGqc/UmjOtdGiFQchEpwCH0hfpHGdcvcx6MJewCLcB/s1600/IMG_1682.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q5v8tXYix9Q/VyFBzE1wfFI/AAAAAAAAGqc/UmjOtdGiFQchEpwCH0hfpHGdcvcx6MJewCLcB/s400/IMG_1682.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did get my Old Voices New Impressions quilt top assembled. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am pleased with the way it all came together and very happy I went with the green border fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ILGgCu-WF0A/VyFHBio07LI/AAAAAAAAGq0/P3kT6mZWYIsVCwfIpAqyoeySZgx6wFGggCKgB/s1600/IMG_1690.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ILGgCu-WF0A/VyFHBio07LI/AAAAAAAAGq0/P3kT6mZWYIsVCwfIpAqyoeySZgx6wFGggCKgB/s320/IMG_1690.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It’s not too noticeable in the pictures but in person the center of the quilt looks like it is floating on the green border. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Karen from <a href="http://karen-logcabinquilter.blogspot.com/2015/07/old-voices-new-impressions-blocks.html">Log Cabin Quilts</a> started this sew a long in July 2015. I wasn’t a very good member because I failed to post my progress each month but reading about the other ladies progress kept me motivated. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So thanks Karen for all your inspiration.</div>

Tiger Lily block for the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Quilt.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was supposed to be posted on the 15th so I guess I am a little late. At least I made it before the May block came out.<br />
You can see some nice pictures on their <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/">blog</a> showing this block in many different fabrics and there is a Facebook page <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shenvalleybotanicalquiltsewalong">here</a> for this quilt.<br />

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also stitched a couple of the wreath blocks for the Sarah Fielke BOM.<br />
We need to make 8 of these wreath blocks . I will need to stitch 16 because I am making two color ways but I have 8 months left to get them finished.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
The blocks for this month were both applique . This quilt has a very whimsical and happy look.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
I guess this is why Sarah has named it Happy Days.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is also a Facebook group for Happy Days<a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/802917486520858/"> here</a> where you can see many different versions of the quilt. I am always amazed at how creative some people are.</div>
</div>
<br />
Facebook is the other reason I have become lax at blog posting. I never was a fan of Facebook but so many of the groups I follow have moved there so I was kind of forced to give it a try.<br />
I am still a little concerned about privacy issues so I rarely post anything.<br />
It’s not as bad as I had imagined but it sure can eat up a lot of your time.<br />
Until the next time,<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
This months block for the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Quilt is </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"The Liberty Tree". </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I first looked at this pattern I had in mind not to include the Liberty Tree block because it seemed to look a little out of place. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now that it is all stitched I just love it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All the information you need about this wonderful pattern can be found <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/">Here</a> .</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks Dawn and Doreen for such a fun BOM!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also finally finished the next to the last border on “Auntie Green’s Garden” a pattern by Irene Blanck. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Only one border left and it consists of yards and yards of brown vine a little boring to stitch but it makes a beautiful finish to the quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OSQzGpCxBAw/VuLcNr6oW3I/AAAAAAAAGpE/nOINBO-_hYUEbATLoalCY5DkqZKEGD6qA/s1600/IMG_1607.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OSQzGpCxBAw/VuLcNr6oW3I/AAAAAAAAGpE/nOINBO-_hYUEbATLoalCY5DkqZKEGD6qA/s400/IMG_1607.jpg" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Florabunda is finally quilted. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Started in 2010 it was a free BOB from Erin Russek of <a href="http://erinrussek.typepad.com/">One Piece at a Time</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made Florabunda using the freezer paper applique method Erin is known for.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my “30’s Feedbacks” the 2005 Second Saturday Sampler from Little Quilts finally quilted. Little Quilts closed it’s doors a couple of months ago and I miss having such a wonderful shop near by.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, I know I said I wasn’t going to start another quilt where I HAD to remember to download a pattern every month but a woman can change her mind can’t she?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Gay from <a href="http://www.sentimentalstitches.com/">Sentimental Stitches </a>is offering this free BOM the “1857 Album Quilt” and all you have to do is not forget to download your pattern every month. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until the next time,</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">We also needed to make some stars. There are 24 of these stars in the quilt but we have 10 months to make them.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rY5_SGERjps/Vs3UUE5EW-I/AAAAAAAAGn0/GflFy2ABifo/s1600/IMG_0001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rY5_SGERjps/Vs3UUE5EW-I/AAAAAAAAGn0/GflFy2ABifo/s320/IMG_0001.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I had decide to use this pink checked / striped fabric for may background and when I stitched the first star I kept getting the stripes going in the wrong directions.<br />
I finally figured out, after cutting up lots of paper, if I cut the squares in opposite directions I could get it to come out the way I wanted. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UNpX9GCRBAs/Vs3dy8iIrjI/AAAAAAAAGoI/Wyux6GSpf0s/s1600/IMG_0009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="184" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UNpX9GCRBAs/Vs3dy8iIrjI/AAAAAAAAGoI/Wyux6GSpf0s/s320/IMG_0009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have since discovered from Sharon Pederson <a href="https://thequiltshow.com/daily-blog/142-newsletter/14569-sharon-pederson-lesson-3-cutting-striped-triangles?utm_source=Infusionsoft&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2016_02_24_Newsletter_2&inf_contact_key=a6ec56d45e0a74f4ec63a321cb2d1cab5f2b720ad73b10a639645c8991c7afb4">here</a>, if I just put the right sides of the fabric together I would have gotten the same result . Now I am sure every quilter in the world already knew this, except me that is.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally finished! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started working on Kim McLean’s <a href="http://www.gloriouscolor.com/store.php?cat=362">Flower Garden</a> quilt back in 2012. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can see my method and progress <a href="http://tatteredgarden.blogspot.com/search/label/Flower%20Garden">here</a>.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mmKFx8C6YIY/VsXgixdc_gI/AAAAAAAAGmw/F3lzSx1QYkk/s1600/IMG_1503.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mmKFx8C6YIY/VsXgixdc_gI/AAAAAAAAGmw/F3lzSx1QYkk/s320/IMG_1503.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The top has been completed for quite a while waiting in the to be quilted closet along with all it’s friends.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gGau7xpuqEU/VsXnX3IrhII/AAAAAAAAGnU/YkvenmMS4_0/s1600/IMG_1506.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gGau7xpuqEU/VsXnX3IrhII/AAAAAAAAGnU/YkvenmMS4_0/s320/IMG_1506.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don’t claim to be a professional quilter and I only quilt my own quilts. Some days when I go to the machine I have no idea what I am going to do next, so some blocks look better than others.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d91thPn3k0s/VsXnbmOO-cI/AAAAAAAAGnc/BIzoWv-xkgg/s320/IMG_1509.JPG" width="240" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am so happy to have this one finished. It’s quite a large quilt 89x91 and it took me a while to quilt it. (almost as long as it took blogger to upload these pictures, LOL)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
I made my way to the dreaded fabric shop this morning - wink, wink . To my surprise they were in the middle of a shop hop. I am not much into shop hops but today I found it helpful to have so many ladies available to give opinions.</div>
<div>
<br />
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fFczNg8UvTk/Vr-IhEHSlSI/AAAAAAAAGmM/o7kTKudepGw/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-13%2Bat%2B2.38.36%2BPM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fFczNg8UvTk/Vr-IhEHSlSI/AAAAAAAAGmM/o7kTKudepGw/s320/Screen%2BShot%2B2016-02-13%2Bat%2B2.38.36%2BPM.png" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
It wasn’t easy finding a little corner to lay out fabrics but I managed to find a place and get in just the right number of peoples way to be a nuisance.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GxwkCuyRwUg/Vr-Hr1P6T3I/AAAAAAAAGmE/6xbhH-1LwkY/s1600/IMG_1481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="209" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GxwkCuyRwUg/Vr-Hr1P6T3I/AAAAAAAAGmE/6xbhH-1LwkY/s320/IMG_1481.jpg" width="320" /></a> I did get a lot of helpful advice. Most said the pink was too overpowering and distracted from the applique.<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4fI-5t7pdhw/Vr-IBrnwgFI/AAAAAAAAGmI/aF_3nSTYd2g/s1600/IMG_1483.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4fI-5t7pdhw/Vr-IBrnwgFI/AAAAAAAAGmI/aF_3nSTYd2g/s320/IMG_1483.jpg" width="320" /></a>They thought the green was too busy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_E0tKdGqnTo/Vr-GQVsDgUI/AAAAAAAAGl8/2ydUAsgJRrc/s1600/IMG_1484.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_E0tKdGqnTo/Vr-GQVsDgUI/AAAAAAAAGl8/2ydUAsgJRrc/s320/IMG_1484.jpg" width="320" /></a>The majority opinion was the blue seemed to draw your attention to the applique and be calming. </div>
<br />
There were other fabrics I might have used but sometime when I have too many choices I just get confused so I stuck with three.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q-r5M8hTn58/Vr-PWdx6zHI/AAAAAAAAGmg/-pubpxwgiDc/s1600/IMG_1485.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q-r5M8hTn58/Vr-PWdx6zHI/AAAAAAAAGmg/-pubpxwgiDc/s320/IMG_1485.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to go with the blue because I absolutely do want the applique to be the focal point and I can almost always use some calming.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until the next time,</div>

What a fun quilt this is turning out to be. I really enjoy watching each block come alive and following along with all the other quilters. Seeing their fabric choices and how each quilt is turning out so different even though we are all using the same pattern.<br />
You can go <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/search/label/SVBAQ%20Month%20Five">HERE </a>or <a href="https://www.facebook.com/shenvalleybotanicalquiltsewalong">HERE</a> to see all the other blocks or to purchase the pattern from<br />
The Virginia Quilt Museum.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have also completed all the blocks for my Old Voices New Impressions quilt.<br />

<a href="http://karen-logcabinquilter.blogspot.com/2016/01/old-voices-new-impressions-final-blocks.html">Karen</a> from Log Cabin Quilts started this sew-along last July. The quilt is from a Jeana Kimbell book by the same name and several ladies, like <a href="http://wwwbiglakequilter.blogspot.com/2016/01/not-sure.html">Cathy</a> have already finished their tops.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is the version of the quilt I am making. I don’t have any fabric in my stash that would work for the sashing and borders so I guess I am going to be forced into making a trip to the quilt shop. <br />
Oh dear, oh dear, what ever shall I do.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Shenandoah Valley January block Star in the East. I believe it’s the 4th block in the</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
sew along. There have been so many beautiful versions of this block posted <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/">here</a>.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1ssmonjls7Y/VqE_8t9xWQI/AAAAAAAAGkE/Ch4qnddcqA4/s1600/IMG_1303.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="156" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1ssmonjls7Y/VqE_8t9xWQI/AAAAAAAAGkE/Ch4qnddcqA4/s400/IMG_1303.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I have also been trying to catch up stitching my 1718 Coverlet quilt blocks. This is such a weird quilt most of the backgrounds for the 4 1/2” blocks are made up of lots of little pieces .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wAGqh0HJZqY/VqFBu9EoV9I/AAAAAAAAGkQ/AzCpD_sWe6s/s1600/IMG_1307.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wAGqh0HJZqY/VqFBu9EoV9I/AAAAAAAAGkQ/AzCpD_sWe6s/s320/IMG_1307.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
When I first started I tried to make every block just as the original. I soon gave up on that idea and have now chosen to make the backgrounds a little simpler.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WviX07vMK9Q/VqFB08ciyvI/AAAAAAAAGkY/KNOb2ijqsow/s1600/IMG_1308.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WviX07vMK9Q/VqFB08ciyvI/AAAAAAAAGkY/KNOb2ijqsow/s320/IMG_1308.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I don’t think it has changed the overall look of the quilt and it has sure has made life simpler for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TuKLmlWCFpU/VqTu4DayoxI/AAAAAAAAGko/cg6rc98TFEw/s1600/T3080FP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TuKLmlWCFpU/VqTu4DayoxI/AAAAAAAAGko/cg6rc98TFEw/s320/T3080FP.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On another note. It’s been freezing here and yesterday we had a light dusting of snow. Now it’s pretty sad when your Grandchildren get this excited about this much snow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cSfnNW4dRYU/VqTwa9dHfNI/AAAAAAAAGk0/Qjq-pIwGa_8/s1600/IMG_4236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cSfnNW4dRYU/VqTwa9dHfNI/AAAAAAAAGk0/Qjq-pIwGa_8/s400/IMG_4236.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We really need to take them somewhere so they can experience the real thing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Everything went together well except the final rows. I did end up having to twist some of the seams on the four patches to get them to nest together. Considering how many seams there are in this quilt I can’t complain and Bonnie did say all of the seams would not nest.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really like the colors she chose for this years Mystery Quilt and I suppose that’s why I decided to make it. Bonnie’s quilts are alway different and special but they are also very labor intensive and the mystery is at a very busy time of the year for me. So I hope if I ever decide to make another one someone will remind me of this.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The borders are going to be scalloped and I will have to purchase fabric for them because I don’t have a piece of black large enough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is doing to be a beautiful quilt and if you want the pattern it’s still on Quiltville <a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/allietare-mystery.html">here</a> for you to download.</div>

Christmas is over and It’s almost a new year. Things have been really busy but I thought I would take a break and post a little about my month.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDF6MpMY1QA/VnqtvR77zcI/AAAAAAAAGgw/htGaCttO-tY/s1600/IMG_1220.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="372" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oDF6MpMY1QA/VnqtvR77zcI/AAAAAAAAGgw/htGaCttO-tY/s400/IMG_1220.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did get this months block for the Shenandoah Valley quilt stitched. Not my favorite block from the quilt but not a difficult one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3s_Qzxmh7Gc/VnqtSub5VmI/AAAAAAAAGgg/VYcUinIu7_Y/s1600/IMG_1213.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3s_Qzxmh7Gc/VnqtSub5VmI/AAAAAAAAGgg/VYcUinIu7_Y/s320/IMG_1213.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XUZ_TGLWq1E/Vn6wCqjWWJI/AAAAAAAAGhY/dWX8L4l7sAo/s1600/IMG_1205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XUZ_TGLWq1E/Vn6wCqjWWJI/AAAAAAAAGhY/dWX8L4l7sAo/s320/IMG_1205.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Classic Santas" is finally quilted. This is a Sue Garman pattern. I stitched the blocks years ago when I first started appliquéing. It’s needle turn which I seldom do anymore. If you are not familiar with Sue’s blog you should check it out <a href="http://suegarman.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2015-01-01T00:00:00-06:00&updated-max=2016-01-01T00:00:00-06:00&max-results=13">here</a>. It is just full of wonderful pictures.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/---qpIUJMdOM/Vn6qNO9jWqI/AAAAAAAAGhI/-QT0BAqDMcw/s1600/IMG_1227.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/---qpIUJMdOM/Vn6qNO9jWqI/AAAAAAAAGhI/-QT0BAqDMcw/s320/IMG_1227.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finished up a couple of little Christmas gifts just in time to gift them.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4R4GmaN_15Y/VnqtmAEgHrI/AAAAAAAAGgo/kp_hiqLI6HE/s1600/IMG_1216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4R4GmaN_15Y/VnqtmAEgHrI/AAAAAAAAGgo/kp_hiqLI6HE/s320/IMG_1216.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have also been working on the new Bonnie Hunter mystery “Allietare" from<a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/"> Quiltville</a>. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vAF7hzCkgIM/VnquByGaE_I/AAAAAAAAGg4/BmXaEC94FGA/s1600/IMG_1219.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vAF7hzCkgIM/VnquByGaE_I/AAAAAAAAGg4/BmXaEC94FGA/s320/IMG_1219.jpg" width="314" /></a></div>
<br />
The first three clues are stitched but the 4th is waiting until after Christmas. The fifth came out today so I know what I will be stitching this week.<br />
<br />
I am also secretly hoping no one offers a free BOM applique quilt this year because I have no will power and I already have several that need finishing.<br />
<br />
Here’s hoping everyone's Christmas / Holliday was as wonderful and blessed as ours .</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am late again posting about my block for this month.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My Blue Flag block is not blue as you can see. I really didn’t want any blue in my quilt but I did want to add something other than red, pink, yellow and green so I chose violet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oALjRRpISFE/VkzGn-HwZ4I/AAAAAAAAGgI/T3PI68woy-U/s1600/IMG_1193.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oALjRRpISFE/VkzGn-HwZ4I/AAAAAAAAGgI/T3PI68woy-U/s400/IMG_1193.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My blocks so far.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It’s been fun working with these colorful Kaffe fabrics.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you have the time and would like to see all the beautiful interpretations of the blue flag block go <a href="http://svbotanicalquilt.blogspot.com/">here</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now back to cleaning and cooking for Thanksgiving.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Until the next time,</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are three pineapple blocks in the quilt. I have chosen to make my quilt using Kaffe Fassett fabrics since I have a nice collection of them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My background is a Moda Bella soft butter color.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I still haven't decided if I will ink the names of the blocks on my background.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SYsUwvbsJp4/VhgVWpaXhRI/AAAAAAAAGcU/EYUbI6kfpuk/s1600/IMG_1110.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SYsUwvbsJp4/VhgVWpaXhRI/AAAAAAAAGcU/EYUbI6kfpuk/s400/IMG_1110.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few months back I sewed a bunch of wonky log cabin blocks to make this quilt. Not being sure what to do for borders I asked<a href="http://tatteredgarden.blogspot.com/2015/04/that-quarter-inch-seam.html"> here</a> and got several good suggestions one of which was to add a white border. So I did, but it still looked like it needed something more so I fused a bunch of free form flowers and leaves here and there.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mphUfHZsHk/VhgVTslIpSI/AAAAAAAAGcM/Ky6aYxN30LQ/s1600/IMG_1113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mphUfHZsHk/VhgVTslIpSI/AAAAAAAAGcM/Ky6aYxN30LQ/s320/IMG_1113.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not wanting to take the time or effort it would involve to zig zag around them on my sewing machine I decided to just finish the edges with my long arm while I was doing the quilting.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CdqV1X2zbHE/VhgWFsjEvRI/AAAAAAAAGck/Xtz15oLgrtg/s1600/IMG_1116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CdqV1X2zbHE/VhgWFsjEvRI/AAAAAAAAGck/Xtz15oLgrtg/s320/IMG_1116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After all the other quilting was finished I went back and sewed the edges of the flowers until I thought they were secure.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Elw3_TFFaRU/VhgV6FRGuPI/AAAAAAAAGcc/uK7muHughTQ/s1600/IMG_1117.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Elw3_TFFaRU/VhgV6FRGuPI/AAAAAAAAGcc/uK7muHughTQ/s320/IMG_1117.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wasn't sure how this would turn out so I washed the quilt a couple of times. Nothing fell off and there is only a little fraying around the flowers.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jK2wJzrPFyo/VhgWOGJqHWI/AAAAAAAAGcs/RDD6_LooLH4/s1600/IMG_1119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jK2wJzrPFyo/VhgWOGJqHWI/AAAAAAAAGcs/RDD6_LooLH4/s320/IMG_1119.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now don’t look too closely at those feathers because this was my real first attempt at stitching so many and they are far from perfect. I also needed to stitch them out into the border someway. Funny how you don’t notice things until you take a photograph .<br />
I am linking up with A Quilting Readers Garden <a href="http://quiltingreadersgarden.blogspot.com/2015/10/wips-be-gone-5-in-week-42-plus-giveaway.html">Wips -be- Gone </a></div>

I started stitching the Chester Criswell quilt in 2012 along with Sharon from <a href="http://twobitspatches.com/">Two Bits Patches</a>. Each month we would receive a block pattern from the quilt, along with the history behind the maker of the block.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Y2ZlOEG6zw/VfLXc8hN0HI/AAAAAAAAGVM/iGSy_FstyU0/s1600/IMG_5267.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Y2ZlOEG6zw/VfLXc8hN0HI/AAAAAAAAGVM/iGSy_FstyU0/s400/IMG_5267.jpg" width="392" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My version of this quilt is a little different from the original. I set my blocks on point and used a red crackle fabric for the setting triangles and border.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IGDYm5ziumQ/VglvUms_AOI/AAAAAAAAGWA/aYuav1pNpaE/s1600/IMG_5270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IGDYm5ziumQ/VglvUms_AOI/AAAAAAAAGWA/aYuav1pNpaE/s320/IMG_5270.jpg" width="248" /></a></div>
<br />
Each block is stitched on a different cream print fabric.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nc12vXxtllE/UFc9SdvbxBI/AAAAAAAAFk8/B1v0ecbDb2U/s1600/Screen%2Bshot%2B2012-09-02%2Bat%2B8.23.56%2BAM.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nc12vXxtllE/UFc9SdvbxBI/AAAAAAAAFk8/B1v0ecbDb2U/s320/Screen%2Bshot%2B2012-09-02%2Bat%2B8.23.56%2BAM.png" width="320" /></a></div>
The original was set straight and has no border.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Most months I would stitch two versions of the block so I have 15 more blocks to make another quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V8-QVfGp8kQ/VglphUjGSbI/AAAAAAAAGVg/sC4ow3cUpx0/s1600/IMG_1093.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V8-QVfGp8kQ/VglphUjGSbI/AAAAAAAAGVg/sC4ow3cUpx0/s320/IMG_1093.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven’t decided how I want to lay out the second one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really enjoyed sewing along with Sharon and all the other ladies that stitched this quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was interesting to learn about Sharon’s family members who had originally stitched the blocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is now an ebook about this quilt that can be found <a href="http://twobitspatches.com/shop/chester-criswell-quilt/round-is-the-ring-that-has-no-end/">here</a> if you would like to know the history behind the quilt.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Noah and Matilda has been a top for a few weeks but I couldn’t find a place to take a picture that would show the whole quilt until now.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This quilt is full of so many cute little blocks that I had never seen before. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tried to pick some of my favorite blocks and came up with six. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was really difficult because I like them all.</div>

If you decide to make this quilt I hope you won’t skip the borders. I know there are a lot of little grapes to stitch but the borders really add so much to the quilt. <br />

You may or may not have noticed I haven’t been around blog land for a while. I have spent most of my time trying to discover what else other than quilting I might enjoy doing.<br />
There surely must be something. It’s not shopping, gardening or cooking that’s for sure.<br />
<br />
I did a little knitting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sPQI5rBdHKA/Vb-zpc7eNDI/AAAAAAAAGRI/GeVBz_TBdMo/s1600/Picture%2B007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sPQI5rBdHKA/Vb-zpc7eNDI/AAAAAAAAGRI/GeVBz_TBdMo/s400/Picture%2B007.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I finally sewed in all the ends and blocked this shawl. Poor thing has been hanging around forever.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Traveling with my grandchildren is on the top of my list. <br />
We had a fun trip to FL until I came down with Strep and had to come home early. Let me just say stay away from people with Strep because it can be really hard on elderly people- like me.<br />
<br />
Now that I am recovered it’s back to my quilting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JEMHbMQ7ZfY/VdiL8pxISeI/AAAAAAAAGR4/fh45t7SmtCs/s1600/HarrisonRose%2B6.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JEMHbMQ7ZfY/VdiL8pxISeI/AAAAAAAAGR4/fh45t7SmtCs/s400/HarrisonRose%2B6.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I finished all the blocks for my Harrison Rose quilt and put the top together. It’s such a lovely pattern and didn’t take too long to complete. Once the beautiful feathers are quilted in the border I know it will look even better.<br />
I really enjoyed working on Harrison Rose one of Collector with a Needle’s great patterns. All of Dawn’s beautiful pattern can be found on her Etsy shop <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/213786642/harrison-rose-applique-quilt-pattern-w?">here</a>.<br />

<span style="text-align: left;">Old Voices New Impressions by Jeana Kimball.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rules are very relaxed. We try to stitch four blocks a month and post at the end of the month.</div>
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DKB2xrOgmYA/VaEjILEexgI/AAAAAAAAGPc/oSl3Eiblwjs/s1600/IMG_4612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DKB2xrOgmYA/VaEjILEexgI/AAAAAAAAGPc/oSl3Eiblwjs/s400/IMG_4612.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I decided to make the Cranberry Album Quilt on the back cover of the book. The directions say to enlarge the block patterns 141% to get an 8 inch block and I thought I did but evidently not. After printing all 25 patterns I got the brilliant idea to actually measure one to see if they were 8 inches.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Guess what they were 7 inches. So my blocks will be 7 inches because I am not wasting more time, ink and paper to print them over.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dWa43yS5xlc/VaEjGXYoR2I/AAAAAAAAGPU/yMIosXHoAlI/s1600/IMG_4610.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dWa43yS5xlc/VaEjGXYoR2I/AAAAAAAAGPU/yMIosXHoAlI/s640/IMG_4610.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been sewing with reproduction fabrics for some time now so I thought I would give a new impression to my quilt and use batiks. Eight 7 inch blocks are prepped and ready to stitch.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first four blocks are stitched.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It will be fun to stitch along with Karen and everyone else once again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you have access to the book feel free to join in. <br />
Sewing with others is always fun.</div>

I am always amazed at how fast time is moving in my life. Why just yesterday it was May and I was at a retreat with some of my most special quilting friends.<br />

The first is a small 45”x45" table topper or wall hanging. Very Patriotic. This was a kit I bought on sale from Connecting Threads.</div>

I started working on the Di Ford mystery quilt back in September of 2014 along with hundreds of other women.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gSdq4sKXD8s/VXg3BV2P1kI/AAAAAAAAGMQ/wfYu4NC6w24/s1600/IMG_4499.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="56" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gSdq4sKXD8s/VXg3BV2P1kI/AAAAAAAAGMQ/wfYu4NC6w24/s400/IMG_4499.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r3Ok9kptxFo/VXg3O9UM1AI/AAAAAAAAGMY/Hyh4LdnmcSY/s1600/IMG_4500.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="55" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r3Ok9kptxFo/VXg3O9UM1AI/AAAAAAAAGMY/Hyh4LdnmcSY/s400/IMG_4500.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The almost final border was made of all these paper pieced stars. I am not really a big fan of english paper piecing but they had to be made so I decided to order the papers and a template from Paperpieces.com<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VJ7eqvcBX64/VVDAzaYDK9I/AAAAAAAAGHo/0HY2OAHnFu8/s1600/IMG_4497.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VJ7eqvcBX64/VVDAzaYDK9I/AAAAAAAAGHo/0HY2OAHnFu8/s320/IMG_4497.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The papers were great but I was not too happy with the plastic template. It had too much writing on it making it very difficult to see what you wanted to fussy cut for the center.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JVF5owkez68/VVDA1zW_JbI/AAAAAAAAGHw/arQkwtymixw/s1600/IMG_4496.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JVF5owkez68/VVDA1zW_JbI/AAAAAAAAGHw/arQkwtymixw/s320/IMG_4496.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The seam allowance was so large it lapped over itself and had to be trimmed wasting fabric and time. <span style="text-align: left;">I did push on and managed to make all 36 stars.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></span><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zGW0VmYA424/VXg21asIF2I/AAAAAAAAGMI/p40g6ea-2tI/s1600/IMG_0872.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zGW0VmYA424/VXg21asIF2I/AAAAAAAAGMI/p40g6ea-2tI/s400/IMG_0872.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
Now all that's left is the last little fabric border. I really love this quilt and am so glad I made it. <br />
It contained two first for me broderie perse and english paper piecing<br />
<br />
Until next time happy stitching.<br />

<br />
It’s time for an update on my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/213786642/harrison-rose-applique-quilt-pattern-w?">Harrison Rose</a> quilt. There are 16 blocks in this quilt and I have stitched nine of them so I am over half way there. They are really very easy to stitch.<br />
I see there is one on the bottom row that wants to be different.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NItGPOSScQM/VWXV7NjSayI/AAAAAAAAGLU/9b2iS5p4PY4/s1600/IMG_4597.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NItGPOSScQM/VWXV7NjSayI/AAAAAAAAGLU/9b2iS5p4PY4/s320/IMG_4597.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first border is made up of half square triangles and I wanted to have them ready when I completed stitching all of the blocks so I could put the quilt together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p-oiA28fAAA/VWXV9U8-HSI/AAAAAAAAGLc/f4-lpA8QRt0/s1600/IMG_0894.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p-oiA28fAAA/VWXV9U8-HSI/AAAAAAAAGLc/f4-lpA8QRt0/s320/IMG_0894.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The finial border is plain leaving room to quilt the beautiful feather design that is included in pattern.<br />
I am really enjoying working on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/213786642/harrison-rose-applique-quilt-pattern-w?">Harrison Rose</a> another one of Collector with a Needle’s great patterns. All of Dawn’s beautiful patterns can be found on her Etsy shop <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/213786642/harrison-rose-applique-quilt-pattern-w?">here</a>.<br />

<br />
It’s Friday and <a href="http://karen-logcabinquilter.blogspot.com/">Karen</a>, <a href="http://humblequilts.blogspot.com/">Lori</a>, <a href="http://luannsloosethreads.blogspot.com/">LuAnn</a> and <a href="http://wwwbiglakequilter.blogspot.com/">Cathy</a> are posting their Ohio Sampler updates. Since I have already assembled my quilt I thought I would post an update on some of the other quilts I have been working on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GCIdnXy3sNg/VV8tfv7HTjI/AAAAAAAAGJs/Po_YeOxgq0k/s1600/IMG_0878.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GCIdnXy3sNg/VV8tfv7HTjI/AAAAAAAAGJs/Po_YeOxgq0k/s400/IMG_0878.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
First Benjamin Biggs. </div>
I will say I have done a complete turn around on my attitude about this quilt. <br />
At first the dark reds I had chosen to uses didn’t appeal to me but after putting the first half of the quilt together I find I really like the way it is looking.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cQQ91ceVFtg/VV8uJKhtvPI/AAAAAAAAGJ0/S5_RM9Tj3Ac/s1600/IMG_0889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cQQ91ceVFtg/VV8uJKhtvPI/AAAAAAAAGJ0/S5_RM9Tj3Ac/s320/IMG_0889.jpg" width="309" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next Chester Chriswell. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to make both versions of this months blocks because even if they are the same block they look so different when you add the green.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-967Px_mX-CY/VV8uPI-z9QI/AAAAAAAAGJ8/hyB6G1of4L4/s1600/IMG_0899.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-967Px_mX-CY/VV8uPI-z9QI/AAAAAAAAGJ8/hyB6G1of4L4/s320/IMG_0899.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
It’s hard to believe that after three years of working on this quilt we only have one block left to stitch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CRrxi_OOrJU/VV9HVYPOZfI/AAAAAAAAGKc/7s_e7u5Z3hI/s1600/IMG_0914.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CRrxi_OOrJU/VV9HVYPOZfI/AAAAAAAAGKc/7s_e7u5Z3hI/s320/IMG_0914.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
There were a few more photos I would like to have uploaded for this post but it seems the new Apple Photo App is not cooperating . I hate this new update. It is so confusing and difficult to use. In my opinion change is not always a good thing.<br />
Until next time,<br />
