December Summary

Christmas is over and It’s almost a new year.  Things have been really busy but I thought I would take a break  and post a little about my month.

I did get this months block for the Shenandoah Valley quilt stitched.  Not my favorite block from the quilt but not a difficult one.

"Classic Santas" is finally quilted. This is a Sue Garman pattern.  I stitched the blocks years ago when I first started appliquéing.  It’s needle turn which I seldom do anymore.  If you are not familiar with Sue’s blog you should check it out here.  It is just full of wonderful pictures.

Finished up a couple of little Christmas gifts just in time to gift them.

I have also been working on the new Bonnie Hunter mystery “Allietare" from Quiltville.

The first three clues are stitched but the 4th is waiting until after Christmas.  The fifth came out today so I know what I will be stitching this week.

I am also secretly hoping no one offers a free BOM applique quilt this year because I have no will power and I already have several that need finishing.

Here’s hoping everyone's  Christmas / Holliday was as wonderful and blessed as ours .

  3. You used wonderful greens in your Shenandoah block. They add a lot of texture. So glad you got your Santa quilt done. It's marvelous. Can't wait to see what the mystery reveals. You've choosen great colors. It's hard to have will power when there are so many wonderful new ideas floating around.

  4. I am familiar with the Sue Garman Santa design but not one I have. It made a wonderful holiday quilt.

Love the leaf fabrics you chose for this block. Not my favorite block to stitch but at least it is done though I ended up doing two blocks to get one I liked.

  5. May not be your favorite block, but I really like the finished product.

  6. What great fabric you used for that block. I think I will use mostly batiks when I get back to my applique - love how it doesn't fray a lot. Love the Classic Santas - all of Sue's pattern are gorgeous. If you don't needle turn what do you do now? I would love to do Bonnie's quilts, but can't manage them during the holidays. Thanks for letting us know another part is available. I'll go down load it now. Happy New Year, Nancy.

  11. Your Shenandoah block is lovely & so well done! Know what you mean about will power & those enticing BOM projects. Still quilting on Beyond the Cherry Tree and now trying to get to the Benjamin Biggs borders. Add in wonderful new applique books on the shelf and it is a recipe for being overwhelmed. In the meantime, happy stitching in the New Year!

  14. Your block looks great - and congratulations on finishing up the Santas! Next year you can enjoy it fully with none of the work behind getting it done! I know what you mean about monthly clubs - so tempting. I'm making decisions too - never enough time to make all the quilts we'd like to make!
