I have been working on my Sally Post blocks and in the beginning I was a little concerned about the fabrics I chose for the flowers but now I think they have grown on me. One thing for sure it's going to be pink.
These are the blocks I have completed so far. They are little blocks and stitch up rather quickly. There are 36 blocks in all and I am almost half way.
This is the pink I am using for my sashing and I will use the same green I used for all the leaves and stems for the corner stones. Most of my fabrics are from the Pomegranate line.
I found a picture of the original quilt on the Sentimental Stitches site. I don't think I have ever seen a quilt set in this way and I doubt I will set my quilt like Sally did.
Hope everyones day is going well and you find a little time to stitch.
Nancy
What an interesting setting! Love how your blocks are coming together. Very sweet and somewhat nostalgic looking.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful Nancy!
ReplyDeleteI have been collecting the block patterns but I haven't started sewing yet. (too many WIPs here already!! Lol)

Your blocks look great and your appliqué is just beautiful! I'm making the quilt also. I have 12 blocks done but I haven't chosen my sashing yet. I really enjoy your blog and find your tutorials very helpful!
ReplyDeleteNancy your little blocks are just gorgeous. I too have been collecting the patterns but haven't started them yet. I love the pomegranate collection of fabrics. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteSO cute, I am still holding off that start, got a few customer quilts done this week and am prepping more leaves, I've started a 4 block applique, 36" each, so big and fast. Love the fabrics you have used in your SP and it's going to be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe RMQM Pomegranate line is yummy! So many classic colors - perfect for Sally. Sweet blocks and i love your sashing choice.
ReplyDeleteLooks good seeing all your Sally blogs spaced out. You have lots done! I'd better get my blocks for the month prepped and ready for stitching.
ReplyDeleteI have been collecting the patterns, but not started yet. Your's look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIn the olden days when many quilts were destined to be bed quilts, blocks were set as in the Sally Post quilt so that one could admire the blocks head on from both sides of the bed. Your blocks are sensational.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks have really turned out pretty! I'm encouraged that you say they are easy since they are small. So far I've just downloaded the files!
ReplyDeleteOh my dear Nancy - You never cease to amaze me with your talent and your great eye for color!! These blocks are wonderful and the quilt is going to be gorgeous!! What size are these blocks?? And I agree – very unusual way to set blocks that are so directional!! Thanks so much for sharing your progress!! Can’t wait to see this one done!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your blocks beautiful.
