Jane’s Quilt

A couple of years back I won a copy of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks vol 10 magazine from Teresa at Fabric Therapy.

Just recently Jane, one of the members of our small quilting group retired and moved to Florida so the rest of us decide to make her a  quilt.  Each of us made a block.  I chose to make mine an applique block.
I made “Tangled Hearts” Teresa’s block from the magazine.

I did alter the block a bit leaving off the hearts in the corners.
This is the final quilt.  I love the way it turned out and especially the way Judy quilted it.

This is our little group.  We sure miss Jane!

Most of our group is meeting for a retreat at Jane’s next week.  Sadly I am not able to go.  I know they are going to have a wonderful time and I am going to miss being there.

Until the next time,
Happy stitching,
Nancy

  1. Always a wrench when a sister quilter moves away....our guild is so large I belong to a couple of small, closer stitching groups. We have known each other for decades. The friendship quilt you made is such a perfect way to show that your friend is missed and will never be far from your thoughts. Lovely blocks and the border fabric adds a whole new element with its circular print. Very pretty!! I came to Blogger after using Wordpress. Blogger does have issues sometimes but I found Wordpress to be restrictive when wanting to personalize things more - it just did not have that "warm, fuzzy" feeling - at least with the free version. Just my 2 cents worth...

  4. I liked the ups and downs between my beloved and me! ;-)

Whether needle and thread or 2 needles or a hook, it's all good.

  5. Thank you, Nancy! Your block was perfect for the center of our quilt! I don't think Wordpress has as many good options as blogger.

  6. You made a beautiful block--how appropriate that "Tangled Hearts" is at the center of a going away quilt for a dear friend. The quilt looks great in her dining room, and I really love the feathers quilted in it. (I think her dishes are the same pattern my Mom has.) : )

  7. I wish my quilt group had more quilters in it. We seemed to have picked up knitters, and a lot of our quilters have moved away. Your quilt is lovely!
